Yes, Lambgoat does review records. Currently, we attempt to review about 5-10 records per week, depending on manpower, which varies fairly often. Regardless, we listen to everything sent our way. We do not however, review everything received. We will definitely review music we enjoy, however, we tend to not review things we dislike, as opposed to reviewing, and subsequently trashing, them. Material sent to us has a better chance of being reviewed if it was, or will be, released on a legitimate label. That's not to say that we won't review self-released or demo material, but we've got to really like it for this to happen.
When sending material, it is helpful to us if you include biographical information for each band being represented. If we decide to review a record, expect the review to appear within six weeks of receipt. If you'd like your review to appear just as the record is being released, please don't wait until the record's release date to send it.
Labels, if you want to increase your visibility, the more material we receive from you, the more you'll probably find your artists on our site. We can't do news write-ups, reviews, or features on bands we aren't familiar with. Sometimes we'll get emails asking us to print news regarding a band we've never heard before. We only cover bands we know, so please keep this in mind when trying to decide what you should send us.
We prefer CD's to vinyl. It's nice when we also receive the inserts, especially for the tracklisting, which we'll need for a review. Lambgoat covers hardcore, metal, heavier emo, and other forms of aggressive music. We tend to shy away from most (yes, there are exceptions) mainstream rapcore, nu-metal, and slick hard rock, because these are being covered by 100 other websites, and less importantly, we're honestly not too into most of that stuff.
If you still have questions about sending us material, please email us. Otherwise, our address is below. We look forward to hearing from you.
